2014 has begun. That is monumental to me. Why? Because 2013 was so sobering to me.
I had a dream in 2001, two days before the attacks of 9/11, where an angel escorted me around New York City. He showed me the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. I saw them in their beautiful glory and I told the angel I longed to visit them someday to gaze out over the city from their observation deck. As soon as I said that, the angel pointed to the buildings again. This time they collapsed straight into the ground. Thousands of terrified people ran past us, their faces in anguish. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Two days later I still couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The attacks of that day were sobering to the nation. They were sobering to me. I asked the Lord over and over again what it meant. Why did He show me those events two days in advance? What purpose did He have in doing so?
My answer came a year and a half later. The Lord spoke to me in another dream. He showed me the building that would replace the Twin Towers. I can say today that the building He showed me is exactly what is there today. I have twice stood at the base of that building, looking up. The first time was in a dream in March of 2003. The second time was in May of 2013, standing there in person. I stood in the same spot. The Lord had shown me the building ten years in advance. But for what?
In that dream, the Lord spoke to me. After the dream was over, I heard the voice of the Lord say, “That building will be a sign and a seal of My judgment against America.”
I wrote about those two dreams and what the Lord spoke to me in my book, The Year of the Lord’s Favor. I encourage you to read it today. The message the Lord has for us right now is crucial for us to understand.
That is why the advent of 2014 is so important to me. “That building,” One World Trade Center, formerly known as “Freedom Tower,” will be finished very soon this year. The Lord spoke to me in 2003 that when One World Trade Center was complete, it would stand as a sign and seal of His judgment against America.
This is a year that has dramatic consequences for our nation. I am burdened to pray for and awaken this nation, and its church, to seek God’s face. It will take His people following His command in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
The Lord longs to save America from judgment, but He is not intimidated not to. He will bring judgment on this nation to purify it. He longs for a pure and spotless bride to come forth from America, so He will chasten us. He will revive us, even if it takes the pressure of His judgment.
But He longs to meet us in peace. He longs to meet us in the tranquility of His loving presence. What will it take for that to happen? It will take God’s people quickly returning to Him with everything they have. It will take an attitude of repentance.
It will take a willingness to admit that we have sinned and that we need God, and God alone to heal us.
And if we do that, He will. What will it take to save America? It will take a church willing to humble itself and ask this nation and our God for forgiveness. Forgiveness for altering the gospel. Forgiveness for living like the world. Forgiveness for giving license to this nation to heap up sin in the name of Christianity.
We can save this nation, but we must act quickly.
